Close up Program

There will be an information meeting about the

Close Up trip to Washington DC on

August 30 at 7pm in Room 107B.

Come talk to Coach Palmer about any questions you may have about the trip. The meeting will be brief. We are looking at having at least the minimum to make the trip and we are not limited to any maximum number of participants.

Parents and Students,

The list is growing but we are still looking for
interested participants for the

Close Up trip to Washington DC for November 12-18,

the week prior to Thanksgiving.
A week students will never forget for all the right reasons.

If you are interested, you need to reach out to Mr Palmer immediately.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Close Up Program

Parents and Students,

IF in-depth discussions about the government and/or visiting Washington DC has ever been something you like, then I have the trip for you. The Close Up program (closeup.org) is by far the best use of money, time, and energy a student can expend while learning and having fun. Many have said it was the best experience of their high school lives (nothing against trips abroad). Mr. Palmer is leading a group to DC the week of November 12-18 and it will include a side trip to Williamsburg, VA.

The cost of the is $1607, with a $400 deposit due at the end of August and the rest due in late September. The deposit is nonrefundable so we are trying to make sure we will have enough to go with Mr Palmer before money is sent in.

The cost of the trip covers airfare, hotel, ground transportation, most all meals, and the program itself. We start on Sunday morning by flying to town and getting to be tourists as well as learning the lay of the land and its transportation system. That evening they will meet their small group leader and their roommates from another state. They are immediately taken into the program after dinner. Monday and Tuesday are spent visiting multiple sites around town that center around domestic and foreign policy while also letting the kids visit the sites in town. On Wednesday they are on Capitol Hill with Mr. Palmer visiting with Representatives and Senators as well as exploring all of what Capitol Hill has to offer, like the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, the Capitol, and even getting in to hearings. That evening the kids will be bused to Williamsburg, VA where they will stay the night and see the town the next day with talk of the building of the Constitution. They return to DC Thursday evening and will likely see a play. Friday is a free day that Mr Palmer will build a plan for the morning, hitting a few locations that they have not yet seen. The kids will be given the chance to explore the city in small groups of their choosing that afternoon, returning to the hotel for dinner and a party with the rest of the students. We will return home Saturday morning.

Again, it is one of the best values of any school based trip your student could take.

Please click here to contact me directly via email if you have any questions or would like to sign up.

Trey Palmer
