Teacher Appreciation Party

It’s time to celebrate the work our teachers have done with our students this year! Please take a few minutes and sign-up to make a dessert for our teachers and administrators. We are expecting 120 people, so we need your help! The PTSA will supply the appetizers, but we need desserts and hands to help with the party. We also need help setting up before and cleaning up afterward. The party is one week from today, Thursday, May 3, and you can sign up here — Teacher Appreciation Sign Up

It would be best if the desserts are dropped off May 3,1:30-2:30 pm, at the Durand Mill Club House, 1880 Grist Stone Court NE, Atlanta, GA 30307 (very near the high school). If you are unable to drop off desserts at that time, you can drop off in the front office between 7:30 and 8:30 am that day. Please

Please bring your dessert in a container that you do not need returned to you. Please feel free to email Kat Boushell if you have further questions. Thank you!

Tuesday April 24th

6:30 PM – Uhry Theater.

Please invite your family (students and parents), neighbors and friends to join us for the last PTSA meeting of the year. After a brief business meeting to elect new PTSA Officers, the main portion of the meeting will be the panel discussion.

Dr. Denise Koo (former CDC employee, retired) & Carolyn Rader, AICP, Urban and Environmental Planner will moderate a panel presentation that includes Drug Intelligence Officer, William Trivelpiece of the Heroin Response Initiative of the Office of National Drug Control Policy discussing the opioid crisis as it relates to adolescents including the Good Samaritan Law. Dr. Robert Brewer, lead epidemiologist with the CDC’s Alcohol Program, will describe issues related to excessive alcohol use; and Social Worker, Renee Hall-George, LMSW, will speak from personal experience and provide resources for family and friends. There will be ample opportunity to interact with the speakers. This promises to be an engaging and informative meeting.

Please plan to join us to end a significant year at Druid Hills High School.

Thank you all!

Dear DHHS Families,

Before this Thursday’s Curriculum Night, we’d like to serve our hardworking staff a nice lasagna dinner as they work into the evening to keep all of us informed about the great things they’re teaching our students. Please use this Curriculum Night Dinner Sign Up to choose an item to bring or to sign up for set-up or clean-up. There are plenty of choices — lasagna, salad, bread sticks, cookies, sodas — you pick!

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you Thursday evening!

Sincerely,

DHHS PTSA Hospitality Committee

Atlanta is in the path of the partial solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. In order for our students to view the eclipse, we’d like to furnish them with "eclipse glasses". We have found a source for the glasses, and they cost $1.00 each. With more than 1,300 students at Druid Hills High, the cost is prohibitive.

Please consider bringing $1.00 (or more) to Red Devil Day to help purchase the glasses. Look for the donation box on the PTSA table or click to DONATE HERE.

What Do The Best High Schools Have?

The best high schools have a high level of parent involvement.

Please consider helping at DHHS next school year.

Here as some tasks that need help or leadership.

Thank you! We have several volunteers.

Please review the remaining needs.

Spirit Wear Committee: Do you go watch your student play a sport? Why not bring DHHS spirit wear to sell at games? We would love to have a committee member from each sport.

Durand Mill Clubhouse Sponsor: Do you live in Durand Mill? We need you!

The PTSA has its annual staff appreciation party and Ms. Cunningham has an annual holiday party for staff at Durand Mill Clubhouse. We need someone in the neighborhood to reserve and host these events.

Fundraising: Currently we have one main fundraiser a year, our annual auction in February. Our teachers need more than we are currently able to provide. Would you like to plan a fundraiser or write a grant to help increase the PTSA’s ability to fund the teacher’s needs?

Contact the PTSA via email to volunteer!

Students are required to present a copy of their attendance when applying for their driver’s permit and when they apply for their driver’s license, they need their ADAP and certificate of attendance.

Due to use of paper for this matter, this is to inform you starting June 1, 2017 we will be charging $1.00 for each document in which we provide to students.

Thank you and any questions, please call Dr. Jackson at 678-874-6312.
